We love dry shampoo. By now you know that you aren’t supposed to wash your hair daily as it will strip the natural oils in your hair. And no one wants that. The concept is really simple – it an oil absorbing powder that soaks up excess grease without getting your hair wet.
If you haven’t used it before, it’s really very easy. You spray or put the powder on your scalp, massage it in a bit with your fingers, brush it through, and voila – your hair looks a bit healthier and full again (basically buying you time until you have to wash it!). Sometimes washing your hair just isn’t practical and using dry shampoo can save you some time. We love using it after a work out, on 2 or 3 day old hair, or even just to give hair a quick boost.
Here are a few we’ve tried:
Psssst! Instant Dry Shampoo $5.99: We have to admit, this one wasn’t our favorite. It comes out a bit harsh which makes the white powder harder to rub in – but it still made our list because if you are in a pinch, the price point is great and it does the job.
Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk – Natural color $19.50: The natural tint on dark brown hair wasn’t strong enough to notice but it did leave hair looking like it was freshly washed. It wasn’t greasy and added just the right amount of volume.
John Frieda Luxurious Volume Anytime Volume Refresher $19.90: This product is great if you are looking to add more oomph to your hair. This also eliminates grease while still keeping hair soft.
Batiste $7:29: We love the way this smells and it doesn’t leave hair looking dusty. In fact, you can pick a tint that best resembles your hair to eliminate any color disturbances. Not only does this add volume to dull hair but hair is instantly left feeling clean.
Baby powder $4.22: This is going a bit old school – before dry shampoo was actually a “thing.” Used as a last resort due to its messy-ness, we suggest sprinkling a little baby powder in your hands and then rubbing it in your hair. Make sure you rub it in well, the last thing you want is white patches all over your head!
Aside from allowing your hair to go from drab to fab, there are a few other benefits to using dry shampoo. It can help your hair grip to bobby pins, keep curls from clumping together, lock in hair when you are trying to tease it, and allows you to go from one style to another without having to wash it in between. Overall, we think dry shampoo is genius and a must have!
