With Spring here and Summer just a few months away, the most popular accessory to any fabulous outfit is a natural sun-kissed glow! While I am all about looking bronzed, glowing, and like I just came back from St. Tropez, I have no desire to get that look from spending too much time in the sun or tanning bed. Nope, not at all. In fact, in my eyes I associate baking in the sun with wrinkles. And if you know me you know that I do everything I can to avoid it wrinkles. (I get it, we are all going to age but I would like to age gracefully and not expedite the process!) The sun and I are just not friends. Whether it is wearing a ridiculously large hat, hiding under an umbrella at the beach, lathering myself sunscreen, large sunglasses, etc. I avoid the sun at all costs. Aside from avoiding the sun, coming out of the winter months also leave most of us a bit more pale than we’d like.
Whether its avoiding the sun or the effects of being in hibernation for a few months, I refuse to forgo that rich sun-kissed look I love so much. So, what do I do? Fake it. Below are a few essentials for achieving that beloved sun-kissed look.
Dewy foundation: In the past I stayed away from anything that said dewy, luminous, etc. as I was so afraid of looking shiny. Now, that’s the look I am always trying to achieve! I really love the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and the Tarte Amazonian BB tinted moisturizer. When it comes to setting my tinted moisturizer, I only use powder to set my t-zone since my cheeks have gotten more dry.
Bronzer: Without bronzer I am nothing. Okay, not true but it really is an everyday must. And what I love the most is that there are so many different options. There are some with tons of shimmer, light shimmer, matte, etc. – basically whatever type of bronzer you want, they have it! I typically prefer a matte bronzer since I do add a little bit of liquid highlight to the bronzer separately. I use Hoola by Benefit daily.
Liquid Highlighter: For a more natural daytime look, I really like the liquid highlighters. Personally I find them easier to blend, help in achieving the dewy look, and overall look more natural. The one I have been using is Sun Beam from Benefit. While I really like it but I don’t LOVE it and would be open to trying out other brands.
Body Moisturizer: Even though I may have an olive complexion, I am not exempt from looking a little pale. It is around this time of year when I re-introduce my skin to my favorite Jergens Natural Glow. I love how this product smells and soaks into my skin. It’s simple and gives me a healthy glow.
Gold Eye Shadow: Adding a little gold shadow to your lids or inner corner of your eyes is a great way to look a little extra sun-kissed. Just don’t overdo it or you wont look too natural! Right now I am really loving The Golden Child by Colourpop.
