I love pampering and a good spa day just as much as the next person but sometimes it isn’t very realistic to get to a spa as frequently as I would like. I have started using Sunday evenings as my own little mini spa day and it makes going into Monday a lot easier!
I usually start by infusing my water with lemon and cucumber. I make a huge amount, keep it in the fridge and try to hydrate as much as possible.
Then I throw in a hair and/or face mask in. I am such a mask person. I love the feeling of hydrating, detoxing, purifying, or whatever the mask says. And when I don’t have a proper hair mask, I use coconut oil. Keep it in for about 20 minutes and wash it out. From being a long-time Birchbox subscriber, I have tons of face masks samples so I reach for whatever I am in the mood for.
In the shower, I use a body scrub or make sure I use a fancier body oil. This little step up from my normal routine makes me feel a little more luxurious.
When I don’t have gel on my nails I love doing a little at-home mani. Chipped nails are a huge pet peeve of mine so even its if just a color change, I’ll do it!
Candles are a must. Aromatherapy is one of my favorite ways to relax. In fact, I really think I have a problem when it comes to buying candles, I just can’t stop. Anthropolgie is my aromatherapy heaven. I try to stick to soy candles as much as possible but it doesn’t always work.
Meditate. I spend some time laying down in Shavasana and try to think about what I want to get out of the week. With my two little ones around this either can take a few minutes or up to 15-20. I just let go. If I get a good enough meditation in, I instantly feel more energized!
Sometimes I get to do all of these, sometimes its just lighting a few candles and meditating, but I can honestly say I try to do something relaxing for myself on Sunday nights.
